Yoga Is Not Always Beneficial to Health

Yoga Is Not Always Beneficial to Health
Yoga Is Not Always Beneficial to Health
Experts warn that the increasingly popular form of yoga, the “hot yoga“, when the room temperature is warmed to 32 or even 40 degrees Celsius before classes, is not useful for everyone.
The tension of the body, associated with high temperature of the environment, may be unsafe for people with certain medical conditions.
Instructor Diana Zotos, who is working in the rehabilitation department of a New York hospital, warns that if you have any sensitivity to heat (e.g. you have had a heat stroke at least once, and you felt tiredness, dizziness or dehydration) you should consult with your doctor before starting to practice this form of yoga. Any person, who suffers from osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, muscle pain or joint pain, should pay attention to this issue. First of all, this is due to the fact that the heated environment of the classroom with hot yoga can create a false sense of flexibility. As a result, an untrained person can strain muscles, damage joints, ligaments, and cartilage.
In addition, a consultation is required for those, who suffer from high or low blood pressure and various heart diseases. They should first of all consult a cardiologist. One should not become engaged in “hot yoga” at the age over 40 years, as well as without any experience in Eastern practices.
“Hot Yoga” is aimed at weight loss, removal of toxins, strengthening the body, developing of physical endurance and mental relaxation.

Millions of City Livers to Die of Air Pollution by the Year 2050

Millions of City Livers to Die of Air Pollution by the Year 2050
Urban air pollution will have become the main “natural” cause of death by 2050, overtaking substandard water and poor sanitary conditions.
According to the report of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), it is expected that about 70% of the world’s population will live in cities by 2050, exacerbating the problems associated with air pollution, excessive amount of vehicles and waste management. The experts from the organization add that most likely there will be more devastating climate change due to the expected increase in greenhouse gas emissions by 50%, mainly due to the 70% increase in CO2 emissions from energy production. Supposedly around 3.6 million people will die by 2050 because of unfavorable environmental factors. For instance, polluted air of the cities will cause an increasing number of deaths from respiratory diseases.
The OECD report “Prospects for the environment up to 2050: consequences of inaction” also names other adverse environmental factors that humanity will face in coming decades, affecting people’s health and life. Thus, the global demand for water will increase by 55%, and nearly 40% of the population, or 2.3 billion people more than at present, will experience a shortage of water. According to the experts, the north and south of Africa and Southern and Central Asia will especially suffer from lack of water.
By 2050, the demand for electricity will increase by 80%. At the same time, 85% of all energy will be obtained from fossil fuels, which will lead to an increase in the greenhouse gas emissions and deteriorate air quality. It is expected that the main consumers of energy will be the emerging economies of Brazil, Russia, India, Indonesia, China, and South Africa.
The OECD Secretary General Angel Gurria claims that we have already witnessed the collapse of fisheries due to overfishing and are faced with serious shortage of water, which is the reason for the risk to agricultural development. Such substantial changes in the environment can not be separated from each other. They must be managed in the context of global efforts to ensure the availability of food and electricity, as well as poverty reduction.

Best Foods for a Pregnant Woman

Best Foods for a Pregnant Woman
Best Foods for a Pregnant Woman
A young woman should get ready for the birth of a child from a very early age. But she should especially prepare her body during pregnancy.

Why Is Healthy Nutrition So Important during Pregnancy?

There is no need to convince anyone that proper nutrition for pregnant women is extremely important, because wrong nutrition (not balanced, not rational) can provoke the development of edema, increased blood pressure, impaired placental blood flow, nausea, vomiting, and so on. And it is not because of the woman being poisoned, but because of her vital processes being affected.
Consider the three super products for pregnant women, the regular consumption of which has a positive impact on the health of a woman and the formation of the fetus.

Rabbit Meat Is the Best for Pregnant Women

The first product is rabbit meat. It is in the rabbit meat that most protein is contained, which is 21% of the total weight. What is the function of the protein in the body? It contributes to construction, transportation, production of energy and performs the protective function of the enzyme. All immunoglobulins, all protective antibodies are proteins. And it is impossible to build a future body without protein!
Pregnancy is an amazing process, especially when you think what tremendous growth the fetus undergoes in a woman‘s body. From a completely invisible cell it turns into a human being weighing about 3 kg in just 9 months. Of course, this requires a protein. It is also worth saying that rabbit meat is the lowest in cholesterol and is the most hypoallergenic meat.

Eating Cottage Cheese during Pregnancy Provides Calcium

The second product is cottage cheese. Of course, the dairy products also include proteins, but the expectant mother and her baby are in special need of calcium, and cottage cheese is known to be a source of calcium. Calcium is the basis of bone formation, and its deficiency in pregnant women leads to two negative consequences: misformation of normal bones in the fetus and osteoporosis (calcium loss from bones) in the woman herself. Also, we should keep in mind that our bodies have tiny bones in the middle ear that are responsible for transmitting audio signals to the receptors in the brain. If the mother lacks calcium in the first three months of pregnancy, the child may be born deaf. And, of course, calcium is important for women during pregnancy because many women with the lack of calcium in the body start to suffer from crumbling teeth.

Broccoli Provides Pregnant Women with Folic Acid

The third product is broccoli. What is this product rich in? It is rich in vitamin B9 (folic acid). Folic acid is especially needed in the early stages of the fetus development (the formation of the nerve tissue and central nervous system). Moreover, formation of red blood cells and transfer of oxygen are impossible without folic acid. It turns out that there are two objectives to be achieved by introducing broccoli into the diet: forming the nervous tissue and fetal nutrition. In addition, this is a source of fiber, which is very important for the pregnant women, who are often predisposed to constipation.

How Much of These Foods Should a Pregnant Woman Eat Daily?

The question arises: what is the daily intake of these products? The diet of an expectant mother should contain a minimum of 100 grams of rabbit meat per day; there should be 100-150 grams of cottage cheese and 600 grams of broccoli. It will help to avoid constipation and will provide a solid foundation for the healthy cells of the future organs. The servings are small, but the expectant mother should eat varied foods to provide the child with all the components of biochemistry without gaining weight herself.

Words to Help Stop Overeating

Stop Overeating
Stop Overeating
When it comes to weight loss, the words you choose when you give up something tasty can be of great value to keep you from the temptation to break the diet.
A small experiment, involving 30 women, had been conducted by the American scientists Vanessa M. Patrick and Henrik Hagtvedt. The participants were divided into three groups and were offered a different strategy for non-caloric food. The first group had to say “I don’t” when refusing delicacies, the second group was supposed to say “I can’t”. And the third one was to simply say “no”. The experiment lasted for 10 days, and after that period it became clear that the women from the first group more often managed to resist the temptation to overeat. The researcher explained that the strategy “I do not” contributed to the growth of self-awareness, control and exercise of autonomy, creating positive change in the long-term behavior of the women participating in the experiment. At the same time, the strategy “I can not” signalled the failure of achieving something greatly desired and caused discomfort.
The conclusion is that the strategy of “I will not” is fairly simple, and what is really important… it works – it does promote weight loss! The results of the study were published in the Consumer Research journal.
